In commemoration of the recent launch of Forbidden West HorizonSony has built several life-size replicas of one of the game’s robotic dinosaur machines in cities around the world.
The Clawstrider is a new machine introduced to Forbidden West that is largely based on the appearance of a velociraptor, complete with feather-like neck plumes and a toe retracted into the ground.
A total of 15 1:1 scale statues of robo dinos appeared in various cities on the game’s launch day, February 18, to promote and commemorate its release. You can find them all over the world, including outside the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Madrid’s Plaza Del Callo in Spain, London’s Waterloo Station in the UK, Moscow’s Depo FoodMall in Russia, London’s Lotte World Tower Seoul in South Korea, as well as San Embarcadero Plaza in Francisco and Time Square in New York in the US.
Each one is about 3.5 m tall and will stay here until February 24. There is some variation between them as well, with the Clawstriders posing in different positions. Replicas in New York, San Francisco and Sydney were mounted alongside a cosplayer of Aloy dressed in a full Nora outfit and carrying a bow.
The Clawstriders aren’t the only statues Sony has erected. In Florence, Italy, a white statue of Aloy was revealed at the game’s launch. Titled ‘The Placeholder’, her plaque says the statue is intended to be an icon that celebrates the courage of strong women throughout history.
The best kind of marketing ploy

Intricately detailed robotic dinosaurs from a large triple-A launch are exciting at best, even if these Clawstrider replicas are simply a marketing gimmick. But they are the best kind of marketing gimmick; one that is not only visually stunning but also comes with some extra freebies for you to win.
The small plate at the base of each replica is engraved with a series of buttons as part of Sony’s PS5 treatment code offering. In the coming weeks, 14 codes will appear on PlayStation promotional material, which can be entered online for a chance to win a PS5.
To enter, you need to go to the PS5 treatment codes home page in your browser, enter the code (which on these statues is triangle, circle, L1, right, X, left, R1, square, L2, right) and answer a question. Do this and you will be in the draw.
If you’re close to Sydney, you can also share a photo of the city’s Clawstrider statue on Twitter for a chance to win a replica. Aloy’s Spear or a copy of Horizon Forbidden West Collector’s Edition.
