A FIFA doctor passed away on Tuesday following the qualifier game for the Qatar World Cup between Nigeria and Ghana which was which was played within Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja. Doctor. Joseph Kabungo was a Zambian doctor who was at the game as an anti-doping official. Kabungo was medical doctor for two organizations: the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as well as the body that governs world soccer (FIFA).

A statement from the Nigerian Football Association said Kabungo’s cause of death was due to a heart attack, disproving reports of beatings to death by fans after protests at the stadium following the game. “That’s an untruth the cause of death was an unexpected heart attack,” they pronounced their verdict from Nigeria.
