Capcom has officially announced that Street Fighter 6 is in development.
The developer announced the next entry in the long-running fighting series with a 39-second trailer that shows a cocky Luke taking on a (very sweaty) Ryu, with the trailer cutting out a Street Fighter 6 logo just before the two come to blows.
According to Capcom, more news about Street Fighter 6 is coming in “Summer 2022” (between June and September), so we imagine Capcom will give us our first look at the game (and some interesting details) at a conference during Summer. Game Fest/E3 Period, as the developer tends to hold an annual showcase during this period.
Review: Will it come to Xbox?
The Street Fighter 6 trailer doesn’t reveal much, other than revealing that Luke and Ryu will (unsurprisingly) appear in the game. It remains to be seen whether the characters will look like the trailer, but we imagine that Street Fighter 6 will arrive. PS5 and PC, which means character models as detailed as the ones in the trailer (ignore Ryu’s fingers) aren’t out of the question.
If Street Fighter will land in Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, however, is a bit up in the air. Street Fighter 5 was only available on PS4 and PC due to an exclusive deal between Sony and Capcom, but Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection was available on Xbox One. Capcom has yet to confirm the platforms for Street Fighter 6, but we hope so Xbox gamers don’t get left out again.
While we hope to find out more about Street Fighter 6 perhaps at Capcom’s annual showcase, it’s possible the developer will hold on and reveal a slew of details around August 12, 2022, which will mark the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter series.
Street Fighter 6 is unlikely to release in 2022, but with Capcom ready to share more details, we’re not ruling out a 2023 release. new Street Fighter is.
All we know now is that a new Street Fighter game is definitely in the works and we can’t wait to get our hands on it.
