Visual Concepts and 2K have released a new trailer for WWE 2K22, featuring the game’s highly anticipated MYGM mode.
The trailer, which you can watch below, gives an overview of the mode and some glimpses into its gameplay, with narration by Stephanie McMahon, WWE Chief Brand Officer and former General Manager of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown.
As explained by the trailer, in MYGM mode, players will be able to step out of the wrestling ring and take on the role of a general manager. The game will give players the choice between selecting an existing general manager or creating their own, with a custom character builder. The coaches players have to choose from include familiar names like Sonya Deville, Adam Pearce, Shane McMahon, and the trailer’s own voice: Stephanie McMahon.
As a general manager, players will be able to manage general aspects of their brand, such as choosing balanced lineups and managing their budgets, as well as delving into the details of each program. Players can even interfere in matches. The mode is a challenge and it will take some thought and care to build a brand and get the highest rankings.
For those looking to find out even more about what the MYGM mode has to offer, 2K also streamed a Deep dive ring report. The second entry in the ongoing video series, it offers a more detailed look at what players can expect from MYGM mode with insights and tips from members of the game’s development team, including creative director Lynell Jinks and design director Alan Flores. .
Analysis: looking promising
The General Manager mode was much loved by fans of older games in the WWE series, but despite that, it disappeared for a few years. With WWE 2K22 is back and from what we can see here, it looks pretty promising.
Bringing back a mode that has been so requested by fans is clearly part of 2K’s effort to ensure that WWE 2K22 is different and appeals to fans after the backlash against WWE 2K20 and the cancellation of WWE 2K21.
“We’ve heard you and we know you want more from the franchise, so we’re applying what we’ve learned to the upcoming WWE 2K simulation game with a renewed focus on quality and fun,” the publisher said at the time.
Hopes are understandably high that WWE 2K22 will be a return to form for the series. We don’t have much time to find out if this is the case as the WWE 2K22 release date isn’t far off at this point. The game will be released on March 11, 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, Xbox one and PC.
